Windy spring 2010

While the last two weeks we saw a lot of great days here at my homespot on Lake Neusiedler. My plan was to catch most of the days and if it will be really light to jump on the XL Formula gear. But it was so much wind, that my most used set got the small iSONIC 86 plus 5,4 →

Testing Starboards and the Reflex in Thailand

Back from Vietnam we immediately went for testing new iSonics. We drove from Bangkok down to Prak Nam Pran. Remi had a lot of gear on his pickup. The windconditions were excellent. 12 to 18 knots from southern direction. The spot is definitely one of Thailand´s best. Kerstin and myself were here back in 2007 already, when exploring Thailand for →

Active day

Yesterday I had an active day. I went for an intense Slalom session on 6,2 plus 94 in front of the Jibe´s Beach Club. Was surprised, how great the new 94 iSonic worked. The water was super choppy and went Slalom through kiters, windsurfers and swimmers. Around 5.00 p.m. the wind dropped and I practiced on the 12,6 SUP. When →

Good sessions

The fog has left the lake and we got wind for Formula and Slalom sailing. Today I was out on 8,1 and 122. The gear felt extremely small after all the Formula sessions I had while the last weeks. Wow! I also felt some improvement in my personal muscle power. Gym workout seems to pay off. Tomorrow the snow should →

Turkey trip is over

It was a great time being in Turkey for about 16 days. This time we were three people on the trip. Kerstin, myself and my Mum. We joined Turkish airlines, which turned out to be great. They charge you 30 € each bag, which is fair deal. This time I brought four bags. The whole Slalom kit, Alacati can →

Some pics from the Canary tour

It was great fun here on the Canary Islands. Thanks to all people giving us great support here, like the whole team of the Pro center Rene Egli. Thanks Christin & Jens. One more day is left and then we will leave to Austria. The wind is definitely back at Sotavento again. Chris Incredible strong wind whil ethe Slalom competition with gusts up to →

Second elimination at Costa Brava

The wind was light, but enough for my 8,8 and 122 combi. In my first heat I fought and came in fourth. Made me happy and jumped over the finishing line. Just a little hop, but got me a pic by John Carter, the official PWA photographer. In round 2 the wind picked up and I tried to start closer to →

Costa Brava PWA Slalom

We got wind here on the first 2 days in the this years Slalom competition here at Costa Brava. On day one I was out, but my first heat never got started in the light onshore conditions. Yesterday the wind changed to southwesterly direction and picked up to almost 20 knots. I was on my 8,8 and made some adjustments →

Windy again at Jinha beach

The Code Red 8,1 was the perfect choice for 13 to 20 knots of wind. It works in a geat windrange and gives me the chance to sail fully powered on the iSONIC 122. Now I must focus on the starts to cross the line on time. Yesterday I missed in 4 starts 3 times the starting line by →

First day of racing

The third day brought a lot of wind and we saw great Slalom races here in the narrow bay of Jinha. The hills on the right hand side can accelerate the wind in heavy gusts and sometimes, especially around the starting area, the wind hammers down like the Bora in Croatia. I had a good day and once could finish a →

Rain over Jinha

In the moment big clouds hang over the bay of Jingha. For today it´s over and the opening ceremony will be on soon. Here is a shot from the actual event mag, where I made it inside. Tomorrow the PWA wants to start early around 9.00 a.m. I will sail in heat 3 and hope to make it up. Keep you updated, Chris

The show is over in Austria

It was great to have a Slalom worldcup here at my homespot in Podersdorf. I really enjoyed to sail eliminations on the waters I know for many years. In the end the result was not the most important. I finished in 36th position overall. More important was the positive feeling in speed, acceleration and jibes. In two heats I could →

Windy weekend

We saw really nice wind for slalom training on big gear at Lake Neusiedler this weekend. On Saturday with 7 to 12 knots and today with 7 - 25 knots. It was definitely gusty, but you could catch a gust and acellerate really nice. On Saturday I tested with Markus Pöltenstein the lightwind trimm, 122 and 8,8. And I got →

Windsurfing news from Lake Neusiedler

We got some wind from southeastern direction this afternoon. I would estimate 5 to 14 knots strong. I went for the first time on the Formula plus my biggest Code Red 8,8, which felt extraordinary new. Would love to go with the 11 m sail, which should arrive soon in Europe. It´s still in a container and hope that the →

The new Code Reds

Here are some pics from the last session at Lake Neusiedler on Saturday, when it was windy for the whole day. The new Code Reds turned out to twist great, accelerate awesome and I like the handling. I was really scared how the new sized 7,0 will work. In the last years Severne had a 6,6 and later with the →

Tested my new Code Reds

It was the first spring day. temperatures up to 15°+. What a change! And the wind kicked in with more than 20 knots and in gusts up to 30 at Lake Neusiedler. I decided to sail in Weiden. This spot works much better with wind from south eastern direction. Today it was super exciting: it was the first time on →

Gusts up to 40 knots

In the moment I really live on the right place. Almost windy every day and not too cold. I write about my homespot Lake Neusiedler. Today a massive stormfront kicked in and 30 to 40 knots of wind blew from westerly direction straight onshore at the beachpark of Podersdorf. I went out for a trainingssession with Tom Böhm, who is →

Windy and cold

The spring has been started and we got days with strong wind from Northern direction here in Podersdorf. 5° airtemperature and 6° watertemperature. Would be great to get this winddirection while the PWA event in the beginning of May. The temperatures will be much warmer for sure. The lake has much more water inside than all the past years. The →

Windy in Podersdorf

Wind from northwestern or northern dircetions are the best ones at the lake Neusiedlersee. In the moment we have a lot of wind. The watertemperature is around 6° and the air around 10°. All fine! Much warmer compared to December, when the lake got frozen on the 23rd. The lake has a lot of water inside, a new record for →

Southeastasia review

Finally the trip to Southeastasia came to an end. This year it was so great! A lot of windsurfing time and fun. Just some days after the arrival in Bangkok I went to Vietnam to test Futura boards with Remi Vila. Later Kerstin and myself flew to eastern Malaysia to find some new spots at the sandy shores. We were →

Back in Bangkok

The windsurfing session in Vietnam has came to an end. Kerstin and myself flew back to Bangkok this night. It was a great time staying at the Fullmoon resort and at the Jibe´s. Thousand thanks, Pascal and Phuong! We had 100% wind. Almost every day the wind blew with more than 15 knots and on the strongest days up to 30 →

Windsurfing clinics at Jibe´s

While the last week I ran 4 different windsurfing clinics for the guests and locals at the Jibe´s windsurf center here in Mui Ne, Vietnam. We started with a Powerjibing lesson, continued with Jumping clinic followed by the Duck Jibe and had one clinic about basic Freestyle - body drag, airjibe, switchstance riding. I have not teached for a while, →

I could win the 10th Vietnam Funcup 2009

It was the fourth time I took part in the Vietnam Funcup. It´s definitely a tough race. All races get started at the beach and the wind can be pretty light. This year I had a 7,5 Gator in my bag and used the Kode 112 with the 36 production fin, which turned out to be a good setup for →

Some pics from Vietnam

Today we had wind again, 15 to 25 knots. Later the afternoon it picked up. I continued the testing with Remi Vila. Cyril Moussilmani, Tiesda You and Frank Debaecker left this morning to Bangkok. Pascal Lefebvre, the owner of the Jibe´s and Fullmoon Resort, took some nice shots while the days. Hope we get some wind for the funcup, which will be →
