It was great fun here on the Canary Islands. Thanks to all people giving us great support here, like the whole team of the Pro center Rene Egli. Thanks Christin & Jens.
One more day is left and then we will leave to Austria.
The wind is definitely back at Sotavento again.

Riding your first wave

That´s a topic. Also for me. I never ride waves at my homespots, but most of the time on our trips. It´s something special for an Austrian to ride a wave, for someone living inland. Riding waves can be a big thing, whereever it happens, on the Canaries, in Morocco, in Peru or in your dreams. Francisco Goya once told me in an interview: “I have been dreaming windsurfing before I went to many years. For many years I just lived it in my dreams.”

Exciting design

What a great design. Starboard, my main sponsor, placed Kerstin and myself on the main page of star-board.com.

3 montages slide through alternating: pyramides, sandboarding, wavesailing in Peru and Vietnam, travelling through more than 15 countries on 4 continents And behind they placed a little interview. Travelling is for sure a passion of mine. I really like to sail on new spots and work on different pictures (new views) with Kerstin.

Thanks to Kerstin and all my partners making this kind of living possible!

Nice update and great forecast

The days before leaving to somewhere are always extra busy. Today one of the biggest Austrian newspapers posted an update about myself – that´s a media highlight -and the PWA final on Sylt, where the windforecast looks insane. There is a chance to get some waveriding and freestyle done, too.

Check it below and will keep you updated from the most northern situated German island of Sylt.

Awesome forecast for the first competition days on Sylt. The first eliminations will be started on the 27th.

What went on

While the last four days most of the day time I spent inside the Podersdoirf beachpark to represent Starboard/Severne gear to interested people, who visited the SurfTESTival in Podersdorf. It was a revival of a test, back to the roots, which had been quite popular years ago. On saturday we got a nice breeze in between 10 and 20 knots.

It was fun and found some time to sail on some gear. I had a Serenity session powered up with the Glide 7,5, the super powerful sail. This set up does not need much wind indeed.

Newspaper updates

Yesterday the local newspaper BVZ placed a nice update about my wintertraining. As well I can recommend you to download an older travel report to Croatia/Dalmatia, where I went in 2004 together with Kerstin reiger and Slovenian freestyle crack Tine Slabe (Slo-6). Was such a nice trip. We discussed a lot about telling people about lonesome places or keep it for ourselve.

Newspaper update inside the BVZ. A picture from Vietnam. The last session before I got sick for about a week. I am on a 101 proto iSonic 08. The board never got choosen as the best one, but worked great in the hard chop with Code Red 6,7.

My sailsponsor put the Gran Canaria Diary online on their site. Like it. Just came back from Vienna. We had heavy rainshowers there, but a super nice evening at the momentum gallery. Christian Skrein, a photographer, who only took shots for a period of 7 years – he got shots of the Beatles in the snow – presented himself as a cool guy and his pictures as art, we would say today. He never expected to become an artist himself. Like the shot “Sternchenschnuppe” (1964), what means “little falling star”. Took a shot with my phone. Both the group of people (men) and the viewer in the exhibition had a nice view on the falling star, who is not that little.

The evening ended with a nice dinner at an Italian restaurant located in the 6th district. Later, back in the office, the update at Severne´s site was on.

Nos vemos, Gran Canaria…

Nice publication in the German SURF

The Zaafarana story got published in the latest issue of the German SURF. It was definitely a great moment to sail there in the untouched bay and to see Kerstin´s pics printed on paper. A sweet location for freeriding and freestyle with a high rate of wind all around the wear!

Nice exposure

The weather in Austria is pretty cold and the lakes get frozen. Some more days and I will leave to the Canaries for a while. Got some nice exposure at the end of the year. The Taiwan trip of Kerstin, who took all pics and myself, got published in the current issue of the German SURF (1/2 2008). We got 8 pages. Have posted some pages. Hope you like it. As well I got asked from Brian McDowell, the PWA media front man, concerning travel experiences (flights). It was the first time to make it inside an interview on the PWA page. I am really happy about. Check it out:
