Inge & Kati again
Out of a sailors view you should not come to Sylt just to be focused on the race. As well you should always keep open your eyes and time for the restless fans, who are walking along the beach to see their stars, shoot a pic or exchange some words with them. So I met Inge and Kati yesterday afternoon. →
Some wind in Westerland, but not enough
While the morning it looked like the wind would become strong enough. But we only got 5 - 9 knots in some gusts around 11 knots. Totally onshore with some beachbreak. Surfers went out and Kiri proved his lightwind qualities in landing some esliders, funnels and flakas. 88 liter board and 4.7 m sail. The acceleration the Bonaire local did →
Wind direction changed to South
A bit foggy this morning and a light breeze from the south. They are just checking how to set the course. Hopefully, the wind will pick up!
Light wind racing
Yesterday the this years PWA Slalom 42 racing got started. The windconditions were ok. Light, but right. Around 10 knots. Had a quite good first heat seeding, but started too late. Was on the 9.0 sail and on the Isonic 125. The run from the startingline down to the first mark was a deep downwind one. Less pressure inside the →
Inscription and opening ceremony are done
It´s the second time being in Sylt. Alltogether it´s my fourth start in a PWA Slalom 42 competition. Not really much, but much enough to know a bit what´s going on. Anyway it´s the final in Slalom 42 tour in 2006. This year I missed two races, Pozo and Sylt, but will compete in the final with 100 % motivation. →
World Press Photo instead of sailing on the peaceful water of the lake
Planned to sail this weekend, but wind was too weak. So I joined the this years "World Press Photo" exhibition in the Westlicht museum in Vienna. Pictures showing people, who suffer or who could not resist extrordinary violance of nature or human beings themselves. It seems to be unreal, but each picture tells a true story. A brutal way to →
Warm, sunny and windy at my homespot
The southwind arrived around midday and could sail on my Starboard Isonic 125 (Drakefin 38) and pumping my Challengersails Aero SL in 7.6 m². Was totally nice atmosphere on the water. 27° air temperature, 23° water and 3 - 5 Beaufort. Within 9 days the PWA SLalom 42 competition in Sylt will be started. Can´t await to compete in the rough →
Back in Austria
With more than 250 kg of luggage Kerstin and myself travelled back from the Canary Island of Fuerteventura to Austria. Had already a good session on friday on my homespot, the Lake Neusiedler. For the upcoming week the windforecast is quite promising. Southeasterly wind packed with warm air should arrive daily and I will push my Isonic 125 for sure →
