The big final “8 pictures of a thorny match”

The European Championship final will be on this evening in Vienna. In the moment we stay at the Finca of Jens and Christin. Jens is a German and myself, yeah, I´m an Austrian. So, let´s have a final in the dusty garden, where the goats live and thorny plants grow. And we had the best referee, Horst the black →

40 knots+ at Sotavento

Today the wind picked up a bit compared to yesterday. We saw more than 40 knots at the beach of Sotavento. The kiters did not go out anymore and the windsurfers got accompanied by jet-ski riders from the Pro Center. Flying waters and a lot dust in the air produced a dull ambience. The strongest gusts, which were measured, →

35 knots + at Sotavento

The wind blew super strong while the whole day. A big dusty cloud moved above the sandy hills behind the beach. Most of the guests dragged little sailsizes in between 3,3 and 4,0 m down to the waterfront. I decided to try my Code Red 5,6 and the Isonic 86 in this sort of conditions. Jens, my local coach, had →

Late afternoon session at the Center 1

After an intense Slalom session on 5,6 yesterday afternoon I relaxed today. But later the day the motivation arised and I had to go for a little windsurfing freeride session. On the Gator 4,7 and EVO 80 the fun was on my side definitely. The wind was much lighter than yesterday afternoon, when the trades came down the soft sandy →

More than 30 knots of wind

Today we saw Sotavento at it´s best for highwind freeriding. Arriving around 15.00 at Center one the wind went up to 30 knots. Guests came back to the center to get smaller gear. I went on Evo 80 and Gator 4,7, which was a good choice. In the heavy gusts I could have sailed on my girlfriend´s 3,7 for sure. Back →

Strong wind on Fuerteventura

Just arrived on Fuerteventura and had to get out the small gear alreday. Kerstin went on 4,2 and I rigged the Code Red 08 in 6,1. Combined with the 86 and the brandnew Vector 34 I really enjoyed blasting around. Now we will stay for about a week and hope to get some better jibing style and much more speed. →

Packing for a long trip

Just back from Costa Brava it´s time to pack again. I will leave with Kerstin to the Canaries within two days. And Turkey follows directly to teh Canary trip. We will bring some freeriding gear, too for wavesailing and freestyling. Hope to find some time in between the intense Slalom sessions. The wind should be on and it´s time to get →

One day of wind at the Costa Brava

This year we are not so lucky with the wind on the tour. So far we saw only one day with wind. I would aestimate we had 15 to 30 knots. It was fun to sail, but I went in the second elimination for too big gear. The wind picked up and I was so much overpowered on my 7,7 →

Getting ready for Costa Brava

Today it was a lot to do. I had to sandpaper the fins first, getting stickers on 4 sails. As well I had to adjust the right number of spacers. The flight to Barcelona will be tomorrow midday. It looks like some wind should be there, but the directions seems to be strange. I wil bring two Isonics in 122 →

Snowhite, the 7 surfers and myself

I just received a pic of Jakub Kosmowski. "Snowhite, the 7 surfers and myself". This tent decoration was the winning design in the deco contest at the this years Freestyleworldcup at my homespot Podersdorf. What else is going on? Tomorrow it´s packing time. On monday I will fly to Costa Brava to compete in the second PWA Slalom 42 event →
