Racing in Vietnam will be tough this year
The this years Vietnam Funcup, it will be the 11th edition, will be a tough one. I could win the race last year. It was the 10th time, that the event happened. In the upcoming competition, which will take place on the 29th and 30th of January for the very first time a Pro division will be held.
The organizer Pascal Lefebvre just sent me a mail today: Remi Vila, Cyril Moussilmani, Jimmy Diaz, a couple of Russians, 2 Vietnamese and yourself are on the starting list of the Pro division in the moment. Wow!
It looks like I will have a great slalom competition there! Let´s hope that the wind will kick in, but so long the north easter works great in this season!
The good thing about the event is that you meet many happy people having fun on the water, a great party plus concert will be up and all the profit of the event will be donated to a charity organization in Binh Thuan Province.
Vietnam, we come!! Kerstin and myself should arrive there on the 26th of January!

Windsurfing news from Lake Neusiedler
We got some wind from southeastern direction this afternoon. I would estimate 5 to 14 knots strong. I went for the first time on the Formula plus my biggest Code Red 8,8, which felt extraordinary new. Would love to go with the 11 m sail, which should arrive soon in Europe. It´s still in a container and hope that the container ship will not be captured somewhere in Somalia. Later on I continued with the iSONIC 122 plus Vector 48. The combo is fine and plans very early. Just on the upwind trimm I have to work a bit. But upwind is not the main direction we sail in Slalom.
The good news from the lake are: we have a very warm April so far and the watertemperature increased from 8° in the end of March to 19° today. The waterlevel dropped by 15 cm and makes the chop more comfortable. And what´s about the airtempeature? Above 20°!!!!
The wind looks fine for tomorrow as well.

The new Code Reds
Here are some pics from the last session at Lake Neusiedler on Saturday, when it was windy for the whole day. The new Code Reds turned out to twist great, accelerate awesome and I like the handling. I was really scared how the new sized 7,0 will work. In the last years Severne had a 6,6 and later with the Code Reds a 6,7. Till last week I used the 6,7 a lot and was really confident with this size. It worked great on the 101 and also fine on the 86. Now I put the 7,0 on the 101 and it feels like made for the 101. The bigger size, boomlength increased from 198 – 200 cm at the old 6,7 to 212 cm. The board got more control, lift and better carving performance inside the jibe.
The new 6,2 feels more powerful compared to the old 6,1 and bigger as well. This new Code Red size breaths more at the leach. I can´t expect to test the 8,1 and 8,8. 8,1 will be interesting. It gets rigged with a 460 cm long mast combined with a 40 cm
Thanks a lot to Ronny Wildner for the nice shots and check out his blog: http://www.beachhawk.net
