Spring session 2017 on the membrane

It was about time to get a few more hours on the handcrafted 4G in 5,8m. The oriented sail from Challenger matches very well with the Starboard Flare 103. I can get into planing in the lightest gusts. Just a few sail pumps, a bit of extra pushing with the feet and I make it into planing. And that’s what windsurfing is about in my opinion. The combo is a real light wind combo. I can have fun in 12 – 15 knots. I even could use a bigger fin.I had the standard 19.5 cm long fin in. The 5.8 requires a 430 mast, but can use the same boom I have on the 3.2m.

The membrane sail feels more flexible after a few hors of use and the top speed and acceleration is impressive compared to Monofilm/Dacron sails. And the sail has no wrinkles at all.

If you get the change to try a membrane sail from ChallengerSails, try it!! You will be surprised indeed.
